Coolty Hunter is a multifaceted artist and creative professional with a diverse background that spans engineering, photography, and mixed media art. Born in 1977 in Queens, New York, Coolty has combined technical expertise, artistic vision, unique life experiences and cultural perspective, thereby positioning himself a contemporary renaissance man.
Hunter’s artistic journey began in his childhood as a drummer, which naturally led him to explore DJing. This musical foundation laid the groundwork for his transition into visual arts, particularly photography, which he began pursuing in 2000. Over time, his artistic expression evolved to incorporate mixed media techniques, allowing him to tell more complex and nuanced stories through his work.
With a strong educational background, Coolty holds Masters of Arts Degrees in Audio Design and in Acoustics from The John Hopkins University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from A&T. This unique combination of technical and creative skills has significantly influenced his approach to art and design.
